"The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of the game of tennis and its duties and responsibilities include determination of the Rules of Tennis." 1) The Court:
The court should be a rectangle, 23.77 m (78 feet) long and 8.23m (27 feet) wide for singles matches. For doubles matches, the court should be 10.97 m (36 feet) wide. It should be divided across the middle by a net suspended by a cord or metal cable.

2) Score in a Game:
If each player/team has won 3 points, the score is "deuce." After deuce, the score is "advantage" for the player/team who wins the next point. A player/team needs to win 2 consecutive points immediately after deuce to win the game. |

Different from a standard game, points are scored "zero, 1, 2, 3, etc." during a tie-break game. The first player/team to win 7 points wins the game and set.

A match can be played to the best of 3 sets and a player/team needs to win 2 sets to win the match. A match can also be played to the best of 5 sets and a player/team needs to win 3 sets to win the match.

The players/teams should stand on opposite sides of the net. The server is the the player who puts the ball into play for the first point. The receiver is the player who is ready to return the ball served by the server. At the end of each standard game, the receiver should become the server for the next game.

The choice of ends and the right to be the server or receiver in the first game should be decided by a toss at the beginning of the game. The players/teams should change ends at the end of the first, third and every subsequent odd game of each set. They should also change ends at the end of each set unless the total number of games in that set is even. During a tie-break game, players/teams should change ends after every 6 points.
